Flock Accounting: The Audit Report
Every backyard chicken keeper knows the books are technically balanced right up until somebody says, “just one more.”
Where the discrepancy came from
The expected total was 13. The observed total was 27. Investigators found no reliable paper trail, although several witnesses remembered a feed-store visit and one suspiciously persuasive broody hen.
This is not an isolated accounting failure. It is a recurring agricultural phenomenon known informally as chicken math: the flock expands while every individual acquisition continues to feel like “just one.”
The corrective action
We printed the failed ledger on useful drinkware instead of pretending the numbers could still be reconciled. The original Flock Accounting design is available on the 11 oz ceramic mug, travel mug, insulated tumbler, and water bottle.
